7. CONCLUSION

Our results show that the Monte Carlo algorithm is surely preferable for technical applications where we are interested in quantitative results of simulation.

Considering visual quality of images generated with use of global illuminance analysis data the deterministic algorithm has the additional advantage of more smooth images it generates; so that both algorithms become comparable.

However, the Monte Carlo algorithm has other advantages, the most important are:

• More general reflectance model Monte Carlo algorithm currently uses (and may adopt in future). It includes, for example, curved reflectors and refractors, non-Lambertian diffusers.
• Monte Carlo algorithm allows more direct control of simulation accuracy and easier visualization of intermediate results at any moment.

We believe all of these to be a strong enough argument for considering the Monte Carlo algorithm as the main algorithm for global illumination analysis.
