Happy Holidays!

The 2019 year is coming to the end. Recently referred to as New, for our group this year has become such indeed: we received new grants and contracts, new studies have been initiated, and defended undegraduate and graduate theses have opened the next stage of a research career for our young fellows. Finally, we started a department's youtube channel. The 2020 year is expected to be even more busy. It would be great if the word 'groundbreaking' is applicable to the next year as well. To continue the tradition started a year ago, we recall a truly groundbreaking achievement the anniversary of which will be celebrated in 2020: on March 18-19, 1965, Alexei Leonov became a first man in the outer space. Sadly to say, he personally cannot celebrate it anymore. However, as with many remarkable achievements, this breakthrough belongs to the whole humanity and will never be forgotten.

Let the next year bring everybody personal breakthoughs and achievements,
big or little, scholarly or private! It is these entities rather than calendar years that our lives are measured by. Happy New Year!
